Sinaran Legal practice

About Us

A practice built around
careful reading.

We take pension matters seriously and work through them with the time they deserve — no shortcuts, no assumption that a document is straightforward until we have read it properly.

Our Story

Sinaran Legal began with a simple observation.

Many people with pension concerns come to a solicitor's office already worn down — by months of waiting, by letters written in language that seems designed to confuse, by a sense that the system is not particularly interested in their question. They do not always need a battle. They need someone to read the papers carefully and explain what they actually say.

Sinaran Legal was established to fill that space. Our office in Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya, serves individuals dealing with EPF disputes, public service pension questions, and related employment matters under Malaysian law. We work through contribution records, benefit-determination notices, and correspondence with administrators — then set out what we find in writing, in language that does not require a legal education to follow.

We do not take on every type of legal matter. We focus on pension and employment issues because that focus allows us to read these documents with familiarity. We know the Employees Provident Fund Act, the Pensions Act 1980, and the relevant industrial relations framework well enough to notice when a calculation is off or when an administrator's position does not hold.

Our approach is deliberate by design. Between each stage of engagement — the first visit, a records examination, formal proceedings if they become necessary — there is a pause. You receive a written summary of where things stand. You consider it. You decide what to do next. We think that is how legal work of this kind should proceed.

Our Mission

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to.

Legal Privilege & Confidentiality

All communications with us are protected by legal professional privilege. Documents shared, circumstances disclosed, and questions raised remain strictly within the client relationship.

Written Records at Every Stage

We do not rely on verbal summaries. Every finding, every point of enquiry identified, and every recommendation we make is set down in writing and given to the client before any further step is discussed.

Bar Council Professional Standards

Our solicitors are admitted to the Malaysian Bar and practise under the Legal Profession Act 1976. Our work is governed by the professional conduct rules of the Bar Council Malaysia.

Thorough Document Review

We read the documents you provide against the relevant legislative framework before forming any view. We do not offer opinions until we have seen the materials they need to be based on.

Considerate Client Engagement

Many of our clients come to us after months of trying to resolve matters through official channels. We treat every enquiry with consideration for the time and effort that has already been spent.

Transparent, Fixed Fees

Each service carries a fixed fee stated before engagement begins. There are no unexpected charges within the scope of any service. Disbursements are discussed separately before they arise.

Our Approach

Pension law is particular work.

The Employees Provident Fund Act 1991 and the Pensions Act 1980 each create a specific framework for contributions, benefits, and disputes. Understanding how a benefit-determination letter fits within that framework — or where it departs from it — requires familiarity with the legislation and with the administrative practices of the relevant bodies.

At Sinaran Legal, we have concentrated our work in this area because pension matters deserve that degree of focused attention. A client who has worked for decades and finds a discrepancy in their contribution record is not well served by a general practitioner reading the EPF Act for the first time. They are better served by someone who has read it many times in connection with similar questions.

Our written summaries are drafted to be read without a legal education. Where a legislative provision is relevant, we cite it — but we also explain what it means in plain terms. Where a calculation appears off, we show the arithmetic. Where an administrator's position appears to have a weak basis, we set out why, and we do so in language that allows the client to consider and, if they wish, to question our reading.

We work from our office in Damansara Utama, serving clients throughout Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, and the wider Klang Valley. Where travel is necessary for tribunal or mediation proceedings, we arrange that as part of the Long-form Resolution Programme.
